meet the person behind the Camera

Hello!

I'm MaKaylie, I'm a portrait photographer based in Rexburg ID, and the Grand Tetons. I love capturing real and raw candid moments and embracing the chaos that is life. When I'm not taking pictures I am teaching preschool, spending time outdoors, or hanging out with my family. I enjoy meeting new people, and making them feel comfortable infront of the camera. I am a Rexburg local, but love to travel for sessions! I hope to work with you soon and create pictures your family will love and cherish forever!

FAQ

How long does a typical photo session last?

The duration of a photo session varies depending on the type and scope of the project. Portrait sessions typically range from 1 to 1.5 hours, while events and weddings can span several hours. I strive to provide ample time to capture all the important moments and ensure you feel relaxed and comfortable throughout the session.

How long does it take to receive the final photos?

I understand the anticipation of seeing your final photos. My editing process typically takes 3-4 weeks, depending on the volume of images and the complexity of editing required. I prioritize quality and attention to detail to deliver exceptional images that exceed your expectations.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Overcast skies? No problem! Cloudy weather actually creates soft, flattering light. If we’re dealing with heavy rain or strong winds, we’ll discuss rescheduling or adjusting plans to make sure you have the best experience possible.  I keep a few backup dates open just in case we need to adjust.

FAQ

What is the best time for your session?

I am a natural light photographer which means the sun is my main source of light. To give you the best quality lighting in your pictures I do sessions at sunrise or 1-2 hours before sunset.

Do you provide a style guide?

Yes! I have worked hard to create and provide clients with a style guide and strongly encourage them to follow it. I advise clients to avoid dark colored clothes and encourage muted, neutral colors that will look best with my style of photography.

What kind of editing do you provide?

My editing style is bright , true to color, with warm tones.  I do not do a lot of Photoshop and do not do adjustments such as adjust body size, hair thickness, smiles/ frowns, tan lines, etc. I do edit distractions in the background of photos and acne, scratches, or bruises, if wanted.
